These are considered the normal color for the cockatiel since it is the color of most wild cockatiels. The male is gray, has dark gray feathers over its entire body, white wing bars, a bright yellow face, with vivid orange cheek patches. The hen is the same gray with a more diluted yellow mask, bars on the underside of the tail, and spots on the flight feathers. Immature normal cockatiels of both sexes look a lot like females. Ideally the color of a normal should be a dark gray, uniform in color throughout.
